Sometimes it starts with a simple figure/ground relationship. Black on black, for instance, with only a diffference of sheen to distinguish the two. And then comes a cut-out from an accident in the monoprinting department.

This particular remnant seemed perfect for the initial compositional statement. This led to the need for another area of color to attempt some sort of balance for the heavier image.

When I work with collage, I like to employ a process of random selection. Simply stated, one event influences the next.
