"Color Isolation" is a painted assemblage using
acrylics and small jars on a birch panel. In this piece,
I wanted to portray the hierarchy of colors. Within each
layer of the strata, there is an attempt at isolation
by encasing the color with a glass jar. The uppermost
level is completely encased, thereby, rendering it isolated
from all of the layers beneath it.
Color Isolation is an attempt to expose the transparency
of the social orders imposed by humans upon one another.
In spite of our attempts to shield ourselves, we can still
be seen. Visually, at least, we are still impacted by
our environment. |
